The Goal!
Aircraft Repair Solutions is ready to assist all willing to work hard to achieve their goal of earning the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
Course Prerequisite
Member must receive authorization by FAA inspector at the local FSDO (Richmond for the Hampton Roads area). Read “Training & Experience Pathways” on documentary evidence required to have a satisfactory interview to earn FAA Form 8610-2 authorization for both Airframe & Powerplant rating. Course Schedule
Our course is a six-week program meeting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 2-3 hours per day. Our inaugural class is tentatively scheduled for 22 August 2022. ARS is starting out small with five students. Future classes will be accelerated and shorter to meet the challenging schedules of our working adult students.
Written Exam Requirements
To earn your A&P certificate the member must take and pass 3 FAA written exams (General, Airframe and Powerplant).
Designated Mechanic Examiner Testing (Oral & Practical)
A Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME) administers the oral and practical test. The oral question bank is covered during week five of the course. The practical portion is covered the last week of the course with a field trip to the testing site. Each Applicant must coordinate with a DME and schedule an oral and practical test day.
Course Cost
The (ARS) Aviation Mechanic Course provides a basic foundation reviewing the principles, fundamentals, and technical procedures within the required subject matter areas necessary to achieve certification as an FAA Airframe and Powerplant technician. Course fee is $2,500 for six weeks of classroom and limited hands on instruction (course cost does not include testing center fees for written exams and DME fee for oral & practical testing).
